Sakurako is the protagonist of the Japanese anime Cherry Mariko, nicknamed Mariko.
The work is a story based on author Sakurako's childhood (1970s), in which everything is filled with the nostalgia of the 1970s. The setting is Shimizu City (Shimizu-ku, Shizuoka-shi, Shizuoka-ken since 2005) in Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan, a beautiful port city with easy access to transportation, abundant fisheries, and Mount Fuji as its neighbor.
