my country's sugar production distribution
(1) my country's sugar production and distribution
my country's 18 provinces and regions produce sugar, distributed along the border areas, with sugar cane in the south Sugar, beet sugar in the north. Cane sugar accounts for more than 80% of the country's white sugar production, and has reached more than 90% in the past three years. In the 2003/04 crushing season, the country's total sugar production was 10.02 million tons, with cane sugar production of 9.44 million tons, accounting for 94.1%, and beet sugar production of 590,000 tons, accounting for 5.9%. ; In the 2004/05 crushing season, the country's total sugar production was 9.174 million tons, of which cane sugar production was 8.571 million tons, accounting for 93.4%, and beet sugar production was 603,000 tons, accounting for 6.6% (as shown in Figure 8).

my country’s white sugar production areas are mainly concentrated in: Guangxi, Yunnan, Guangdong, Hainan, Heilongjiang, Xinjiang, Inner Mongolia and other provinces and autonomous regions. Among them, 95% of the national sugar production is concentrated in Guangxi, Yunnan, Guangdong, and Hainan , Xinjiang’s five advantageous provinces and regions (as shown in Table 2 and Figures 9 and 10).

my country’s sugar consumption
1. Overall situation of my country’s sugar consumption
According to Chinese people’s eating habits, sugar is just a condiment and it is difficult to reach the level of sugar in Western countries. level of consumption. my country is the fourth largest sugar consumer in the world. Over the years, our country's annual sugar consumption is about 8 million tons, accounting for about 6.2% of the world's sugar consumption. In 2003 and 2004, my country's sugar consumption increased significantly, reaching 10.3 million tons and 11.4 million tons respectively (as shown in Figure 16). The per capita annual sugar consumption (including sugar for various processed foods) is about 8.4 kilograms. , is one of the countries with the lowest per capita sugar consumption in the world. It is far lower than the world's per capita annual sugar consumption of 23.65 kilograms. It is also lower than the per capita sugar consumption in Taiwan and Hong Kong at 23.9 kilograms and 31.0 kilograms per capita in the same period. It is the world's per capita annual sugar consumption. One-third of the world's sugar consumption ranks among the "low levels".
In some developed countries in the West, the average annual per capita sugar consumption is 35-40 kilograms, and the highest is 50-70 kilograms.

my country’s sugar consumption and people’s lives There is a close relationship with the level. The main sugar consumption areas in my country are located in East China, Beijing-Tianjin, Central China, South China and Northeast China. Among them, East China and Beijing-Tianjin regions have the largest consumption. With the rapid improvement of our people's living standards, our country's sugar consumption market still has great room for expansion. Because sugar demand is more tolerant of price, sugar prices often have little impact on large increases in consumption.
One of the main reasons for the low level of sugar consumption is the excessive and excessive abuse of saccharin. According to statistics, the annual sales volume of saccharin in my country reaches about 10,000 tons, which is equivalent to 4-5 million tons of sugar based on a sweetness equivalent of 400-500 times. Therefore, if the use of saccharin can be effectively banned in the next ten years, there will be greater room for development of sugar production in our country. In addition, the high sugar prices in 2005 inhibited sugar consumption to a certain extent, and at the same time stimulated the rapid development of starch sugar, occupying part of the sugar consumption space. In 2005, the national starch sugar output reached 4.3 million tons, an increase of 22.8% over the previous year.
