Zhimu is a common medicine for clearing heat and reducing fire, and its most important feature is that it can clear the lungs and moisten the dryness, clear the stomach and promote the production of fluids, and nourish the yin and reduce fire. Zhang Zhongjing, the sage of medicine, used Zhimu in seven of his prescriptions, which are introduced as follows:

Treatment of Yangming fever

(Yangming fever refers to dietary indiscretion, overeating of thick and spicy products, resulting in Yangming gastric heat hyperactivity, visceral qi is not accessible, heat injury to the body, the tendons and veins are not nourished by a class of symptoms.)

1. White Tiger Soup (yangming qi heat)

Composition: gypsum 30g, Zhimu 9g, licorice 3g, round-grained rice 6g. decocted until the rice cooked soup, remove the dregs of warm service.

Functions: Yangming qi heat. Strong heat and red face, thirst and drink, sweating and malignant fever, pulse is large and powerful, or slippery.

2. White Tiger Plus Ginseng Soup ( Ri heat and insufficient qi and yin )

Composition: Zhimu 18 grams , 30 45 grams of gypsum (crumbled, wrapped in cotton), licorice (roasted) 6 grams of round-grained rice 12 grams, ginseng 9 grams. The above five flavors, with 1 liter of water, boiled rice cooked soup into, remove the dregs. Warm 200 milliliters, three times a day.

Functions: Clearing heat and diarrhea, benefiting the qi and generating fluids. Typhoid fever or warm disease, internal heat and deficiency of qi and yin, fever, thirst, dry mouth and tongue, sweating, large and feeble pulse; summer disease with two injuries of fluid and qi, sweating and cold, body heat and thirst.

3. Baihu plus cinnamon branch soup ( warm malaria and bone pain )

Composition of serving method: Zhimu 180 grams , licorice (roasted) 60 grams, 500 grams of gypsum, 60 grams of round-grained rice, cinnamon branch (peeled) 90 grams. The above filed into a coarse powder. 15 grams per serving, 250 milliliters of water, decoction to 200 milliliters, remove the dregs and take warm. Sweat out the cure.

Functions and Indications: Clearing heat and relieving pain. Warm malaria, its pulse is like flat, body without cold but hot, bone joints pain and annoyance, vomiting, rheumatism and heat paralysis, strong heat and sweating, gas thick and irritable, joints swelling and pain, thirst and moss white, pulse stringy.

Treatment of deficiency and vexation

Deficiency and vexation: if the qi is not harmonized, then there is pain in the chest, and the residual heat has not subsided, and there is heat that does not go away or vexation and heat, which is called "deficiency and vexation".

4. sour jujube kernel soup (false labor, false annoyance can not sleep )

Composition method: sour jujube kernel (fried) 15g, licorice 3g, Zhimu , Poria, Chuanxiong 6g. the above five flavors, with eight liters of water, boiled sour jujube kernel six liters of the inner medicines, boiled to take three liters, and divided into three warm service. Modern Use: Decocted with water, take in 3 times.

Functions: Nourishing blood and tranquilizing the mind, clearing heat and removing vexation. Liver blood deficiency, internal disturbance of deficiency heat. Void annoyance and insomnia, palpitation, dizziness, dry throat and mouth, red tongue, thin pulse.

5. Lily Zhimu Tang (lily disease, mistaken sweating latter)

Composition and method of service: Lily 7 (broken), Zhimu 3 two (cut). First wash the lily with water, impregnated 1 night, when the white foam out, go to its water, more spring water 2 liters, decoction 1 liter, remove the dregs; don't spring water 2 liters of decoction Zhi Mu, take 1 liter, remove the dregs; after the combined and, decoction 1 liter 5, divided into warm and then served.

Functions: Lily disease, sweating the latter.

Treatment of paralysis

Paralysis refers to the human body's muscle surface, meridians, due to the feeling of wind, cold and dampness, such as caused by the limbs, joints and muscles, soreness, numbness, heavy, flexion and extension of the unfavorable, or even the joints are swollen, burning, etc., a class of diseases.

6. Gui Zhi Pao Yao Zhi Mu Tang (all limb pain)

Composition: 12 grams of gui zhi, 9 grams of paeoniae lactiflora, 6 grams of licorice, 12 grams of ephedra, 15 grams of ginger, 15 grams of Atractylodes macrocephala, 12 grams of Zhi Mu , 12 grams of antifungal, 10 grams of epiphyllum (cannon). The above nine flavors, with 700 milliliters of water, boiled 210 milliliters, 70 milliliters of warm each time, three times a day

Functions: the treatment of pain in the joints of the limbs, the body is lame, swollen feet, such as off, dizziness, shortness of breath, warmth and desire to vomit.

Treatment of lung heat syndrome

Lung heat syndrome: refers to the fire-heat blazing, congestion in the lungs, the lungs are not clear and clean, with coughing and wheezing, thick air, nasal agitation, etc. as the main manifestations of the real heat syndrome.

7. Ephedra and Hemp Soup ( Lung heat and congestion, spleen deficiency and diarrhea )

Ingredients: Ephedra 7.5 grams (remove the section), 3.5 grams of sesame, 3.5 grams of angelica, 3.5 grams of Zhimu 2.5 grams , Scutellariae 2.5 grams, atrophied lemonade (a caltrops) 3 grams, paeoniae lactiflorae 2 grams, asparagus 2 grams, Gui Zhizhi (remove the heart), Gui Zi (remove the heart), Gui Zi (remove the heart), Gui Zhi (remove the heart). 2 grams of peony, 2 grams of asparagus (heart), 2 grams of cinnamon sticks (peeled), 2 grams of poria, 2 grams of licorice, 2 grams of licorice (roasted), 3 grams of gypsum (crushed, wrapped in cotton), 2 grams of atractylodes macrocephala, 2 grams of dry ginger.
