Almond fruit grows on a short distance and has an immature appearance. When the fruit is ripe, its green shell will crack, revealing the nucleolus wrapped in the rough shell. The kernel is yellow, with many small holes, and the shell is hardwood. Almond fruit is oblate, round at one end and sharp at the other, and covered with thin brown skin. Nuts contain 20% protein and no starch. After grinding and pressing, the oil squeezed out is about half of its own weight. Almond oil is light yellow. Although it has no fragrance, it can soften the skin.
