Pistachio nuts are mainly produced in Syria, Iraq, Iran, the southwest of the former Soviet Union and southern Europe. It is also cultivated in China and Xinjiang. Growth habit
Pistachio nuts are arid subtropical tree species. It grows well in areas with annual precipitation of 200 ~ 400 mm and air relative humidity of 50%. The growth period requires an average temperature of 24 ~ 26℃ and can withstand the high temperature of 43.8℃. It can tolerate the low temperature of MINUS 30 degrees in winter. The Mediterranean population is weak in cold tolerance, and freezing injury will occur at -9℃. Pistachio nuts have strong adaptability, like light, and are suitable for growing in sunny mountainous areas at an altitude of 600 ~ 1200m.
