Vannamei white shrimp and Ecuadorian white shrimp are actually the same kind of shrimp. They are the same, but they have different origins and farming methods. The scientific name of South American white shrimp is Penaeus-Vanmamei, also known as white-leg-Shrimp, commonly known as "white shrimp, green shrimp, white shrimp". Ecuadorian white shrimp does not refer to the white shrimp in Ecuador, but a species of shrimp, also known as vannamei.
