According to historical records, the origin of Lycium barbarum in China can be divided into three regions:

First, the area around Zhangye (formerly known as Ganzhou) in Gansu Province, the product is called "Gan Lycium barbarum";

2. Zhongwei and Zhongning areas of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, the product name is "Western Lycium barbarum", now called "Ningxia Lycium barbarum"; 3. Tianjin is said to have been introduced and developed from Ningxia during the Gengzi period of the Qing Dynasty, and it is called "Tianjin Lycium barbarum". Later, the "ancient city wolfberry" in Xinjiang was also counted as the origin. Among many products, it is generally believed that "the quality of Lycium barbarum is the best".
