On the ninth day of the ninth month, he led his wife, children, relatives and elders to climb a nearby mountain. The dogwood leaves were distributed to everyone to take with them, and the plague demon did not dare to come near.
And he poured out chrysanthemum wine, and each person drank a mouthful of it to avoid catching the plague. He wrestled with the plague demon and finally killed it. The people on both sides of the Ru River then passed down the story of ascending the heights on the 9th day of the 9th month to avoid the plague and Huanjing stabbing the plague demon with his sword until now. Since then, people have been celebrating the Chongyang Festival with the custom of ascending the heights on the ninth day of the ninth month.
