Where do pineapple seeds grow
The pineapples on the market today are seedless, thanks to early 18th-century British barnyard growers who bred the small, seedy tropical fruits into the big, meaty varieties they are today.
Generation after generation, the pineapple's tightly clustered flower clusters -- the pineapple's reproductive organs -- gradually coalesce to form a synthetic skinned fruit with no reproductive function. One or two hundred juicy, seedless "berries" grow together on a fibrous stalk that extends upward into a crown of leaves.
The pineapple, also known as the pineapple, is known by its Latin name, Ananas sativus or Ananas comosus, and is probably derived from several ancient varieties native to Paraguay.
Varieties of pineapple were widely distributed in the New World long before Columbus discovered them on the island of Guadeloupe in 1493. While the ancestors of the pineapple were pollinated by birds, the modern pineapple reproduces by means of young twigs, leafy crowns on the top of the pineapple, suckering roots, and branching.
The pineapple is a terrestrial member of the bromeliad family, while most bromeliads like the iron orchid belong to the epiphyte family, which are plants that depend on other plants to survive.
Pineapples can also be grown as houseplants. Before growing a pineapple, cut off the clustered leaf clusters from the top crown of the pineapple, remove all of the pulp, and allow the clusters to air-dry for a day or two before planting them in moist, coarse sand. When the leaf clusters begin to root, transplant it to a well-drained pot and let the plant grow in the soil for one to two years.
After that, the pineapple can be encouraged to grow fruit if the entire plant is covered with a plastic bag along with the pot and a ripe apple is placed inside the bag for 48 hours.
The reason for the apple is that the ethylene gas released by the apple has the effect of stimulating fruit production. After a few months, the fruit will slowly grow and ripen within 6 months, and the color will gradually change from green to golden yellow.
