The Historical Development of Suzhou Zoo
Suzhou Zoo was completed and opened in May 1954. At that time, it was one of the only two professional zoos in Jiangsu Province, and 1990 was merged into the East Park Management Office. The facilities in the park have changed several times, but limited by the terrain, it is difficult to develop, and it is only a medium-sized zoo. Over the past 50 years, Suzhou Zoo has accumulated some experience and made some achievements in wildlife protection. For example, the pure German hibiscus bird population was preserved in the 1960s, and the South China Tiger population was gradually established after the 1980s.
