It is currently used by Amtrak (including the state-supported Amtrak-California train), metropolitan commuter rail, the Los Angeles Rapid Transit Red Line, Purple Line and Gold Line trains, and the Los Angeles Rapid Transit System Silver Line.

There are also bus stations on the east and north sides of Union Station providing indoor bus transportation connections.
