What I want to share with you today is ham and peas stewed with tofu. The main ingredients used today are tofu, ham and peas. The first two ingredients don’t need to be introduced too much. I mainly want to talk about peas. Today we are going to use green peas, also called “tender peas”.
Peas are rich in nutrients. They not only contain protein, fat, sugar, crude fiber and other nutrients, but they are also high in potassium and low in sodium, which is very good for cardiovascular protection. Peas are delicious, round in appearance, and green in color. They have been deeply loved by people since they were introduced to our country.
As early as the Han Dynasty, my country began to grow peas. At that time, peas were used as a food supplement. After the fruits matured, they were ground into pea flour and then eaten. Because the seeds, young pods and young shoots of peas are all edible. Therefore, the peas cultivated in my country are mainly divided into two types, namely grain peas and vegetable peas. The green peas we use are the young pea fruits that can be eaten as vegetables.
Fried peas with ham and tofu
Ingredients required: green peas, ham, tofu, ginger, garlic, green onions, thirteen spices, pepper, starch, salt, chicken essence
The cooking process is as follows:
1. First prepare some fresh pea pods. When purchasing, it is best to buy ones that are bright green and plump.
2. Prepare a piece of tofu, a piece of ham and a bowl of peeled young peas. Then cut the tofu into cubes of about 2 cm and cut the ham into small dices.
3. First prepare some thirteen spices and pepper. Then take a small bowl and add chopped ginger, garlic, and green onions. Finally, prepare the appropriate amount of starch.
4. Heat hot water in a pot. After the water boils, add a small amount of salt into the pot, then put the cut tofu into the water and cook for two minutes. Finally, prepare a bowl of water and put the boiled tofu into the water to cool down.
5. Prepare a frying pan, pour an appropriate amount of cooking oil into the pan, first add the onion, ginger and garlic, and stir-fry until fragrant. Then add the green peas and stir-fry until the color deepens, then add the drained tofu.
6. Add the diced ham, and then add the prepared thirteen spices and pepper. Finally, pour an appropriate amount of water and simmer all the ingredients together for about ten minutes.
7. Wait until the soup in the pot is significantly reduced and the green peas are soft and rotten. Add water to the prepared starch to make water starch. Then add an appropriate amount of salt and chicken essence to the pot to taste, and while it's hot, pour the water starch into the pot to thicken it.
8. Finally, take out the cooked food and put it on a plate.
The tofu in this dish is soft and tender, the ham is salty and fragrant, and the peas are tender and fragrant. The three ingredients are fully blended together. It is so delicious!
