Zhu Yuanzhang was one of the few peasant emperors in the ancient history of China. He was a beggar and a monk at first, and later he was the founder of the Ming Dynasty. His life is very inspiring. Zhu Yuanzhang often lamented when he was sitting in the world. In poor days, he likes to eat light tofu to clear his stomach. Now he can eat whatever he wants, but he misses poor days more.
Although Zhu Yuanzhang lived in poverty in his early years, he still found his own hobby. According to Mao's records, Zhu Yuanzhang himself loves mutton very much. This is because Zhu Yuanzhang, who was penniless in the early days, was obsessed with a reward from others after eating mutton. After the Yuan Dynasty was formally established, Zhu Yuanzhang often ordered his chef to cook mutton for himself.
At that time, a mutton dish was popular in Nanjing. The practice of this dish is to choose lambs under the full moon as ingredients. When cooking, the chef surrounded the lambs in a boiling charcoal fire and let them sweat slowly to death. Finally, put the dead lamb in a steamer and steam it slowly. The chef saw that the cooking method of this mutton dish was relatively new and prepared a ladle for Zhu Yuanzhang.
After the mutton is roasted, it really smells good. Faced with such delicious food, the chef gave it to Zhu Yuanzhang in a hurry. Unexpectedly, Zhu Yuanzhang flew into a rage when he saw that it was roast mutton. He ordered his men to kidnap the chef's son directly, and the chef peed his pants when he saw such a picture.
Later, I learned that Zhu Yuanzhang actually wanted the chef to experience bereavement. In Zhu Yuanzhang's view, this dish is very cruel, especially the lamb before the full moon. Zhu Yuanzhang didn't want to see the little life treated like this, so he ordered the prohibition of this cruel cooking method.
