Chaozhou dialect, which used to be called "Chaozhou dialect", is now generally called "Chaoshan dialect", also known as Chaoshan dialect, which is abbreviated as "Chaozhou dialect". It is a branch of Minnan dialect, with Shantou dialect as the standard pronunciation. It is also one of the oldest and most special dialects in China today. In the Min dialect, which is popular in eastern Guangdong, there are about 1 million people who use Chao language. Together with overseas Chinese and compatriots from Hong Kong and Macao, there are more than 25 million people who use Chao language. Chaozhou dialect is distributed in Chaoshan area along the eastern coast of Guangdong Province (Chaozhou, Jieyang, Shantou and Shanwei), Tangnan and Liuhuang towns in Fengshun County, Meizhou City, as well as overseas Southeast Asian hipsters. Chaoshan dialect is rarely used in the border areas of Nanjing, Pinghe and Zhao 'an counties in Zhangzhou. Chaozhou Town, Pingtung County, Taiwan Province, was the place where the immigrants from Chaozhou Prefecture were most concentrated in the Qing Dynasty, mainly from Changbin Township and Puning County in Raoping County, with a maximum of about 2,2 people. Workers in ports, railways, mines and state-owned farms in Hainan Province use Chaozhou dialect.
