Liaoyuan Village is located in the north of Barrow Town, Shixing County, Guangdong Province. Planting mulberry and sericulture is the traditional agriculture in this village. In recent years, Liaoyuan Village has developed sericulture production into a leading industry in the village according to local conditions, and now the mulberry garden area of the village is 1680 mu, accounting for 80% of the total cultivated land area. Farmers who plant mulberry and raise silkworms account for more than 70% of the total population, and the income from planting mulberry and raising silkworms accounts for 90.9% of the total agricultural income. The per capita net income of mulberry planting and sericulture reached 6380 yuan, which was 27.2% higher than that of similar villages.

First of all, Liaoyuan Village organized mulberry farmers with a certain planting scale to set up sericulture professional cooperatives, and 70% sericulture households in the village joined the cooperatives. The cooperative has established a high-quality mulberry seedling base, equipped with equipment and facilities such as silkworm egg production room, silkworm egg distribution room and cocoon transfer station, making the standardized production area reach 68% of the total area of mulberry garden. More than 90% of the cocoons produced now are cocoons. The cocoon yield of a single silkworm egg increased from 27.98 kg to 35.2 kg, the cocoon yield per mu increased from 3 kg to 3.6 kg, and the output value per mu increased from 3,500 yuan to 4,200 yuan. The average grade of raw silk produced by cocoons is higher than 4A, and some of them reach the highest grade of 6A. Cocoons in Liaoyuan Village are in short supply.

Secondly, Liaoyuan Village relies on Shixing Jinxing Cocoon and Silk Company, a leading agricultural enterprise at the provincial level, to develop the industrial management organization mode of "enterprise+base+organization+farmers". The company signed production and marketing contracts with farmers, implemented guaranteed purchase, rewarded large-scale households and supported production factors, and implemented preferential prices to protect farmers and capital technology to help farmers effectively resist market risks.

At the same time, Liaoyuan Village invited universities and scientific research units to the village to promote new varieties and technologies through the way of "please come in and send out", providing demonstration sites for mulberry farmers to learn excellent varieties and laws. Actively promote the "silkworm-marsh-mulberry" ecological agriculture model, and run pollution-free production procedures and green production technologies through the whole production process. Now it has become the most important production base of "Guangdong sericulture science and technology innovation professional town".
