On the east side of Xi'an's famous Daming Palace Ruins Park, there is a north-south road called Taihua Road.
This road was named after the Dahua Cotton Mill which was in its heyday.
As time goes by, Dahua Spinnery, which was once the leader of the northwest cotton spinning industry, has long lost its glory and its illustrious reputation no longer exists. Only this Taihua Road is still busy with cars and cars day and night, as if it is like people telling Dahua.
The glorious past of the cotton mill.
In the 1930s, capitalist countries aggressively occupied the Chinese market and exported products. Japan, in particular, dumped large quantities of its domestic products produced through machine-based industrialization into China.
Our country's domestic products manufactured in hand-crafted workshops simply cannot compete with them. They lose domestic market share and a large amount of capital is lost abroad, causing huge losses to the national economy.
Against this background, Chinese national capitalists have started industrial enterprises one after another and implemented industry to serve the country.
Compared with the southern coastal areas, the northwest region's industrial development is relatively late, and the first one to enter the northwest region's industrial development stage was Xi'an Dahua Cotton Mill.
In 1935, the patriotic national capitalist Shi Fengxiang founded Dahua Cotton Mill in order to resist the dumping of Japanese cotton yarn in China.
Shi Fengxiang was not only an outstanding national capitalist, not only knowledgeable, but also personally involved in the factory building and LOGO design of Dahua Cotton Mill. He was also an excellent educator, compiled teaching materials, and founded Dahua Textile College in 1941.
.
The school is the first textile industry college in the modern education history of Shaanxi, and has provided a large number of placed industry professionals to Shaanxi, northwest China, and even the whole country.
During the Anti-Japanese War, starting in 1939, the Japanese invaders bombed the Dahua Textile Factory many times, causing huge losses to the factory. The main production units were also moved to Guangyuan, Sichuan, but they still tried their best to defend the main factory area.
Safety.
During the Anti-Japanese War and the War of Liberation, although the production of Dahua Textile Factory was intermittent, the workers in the factory actively participated in the revolution, established party groups, built underground organizations and picket teams, and protected the factory area and the lives of workers in the factory.
During the "Xi'an Incident", the Dahua Workers' National Salvation Association was one of the main forces in the Xi'an national salvation movement.
The party organization played an indelible role in the Dahua Cotton Mill's rapid resumption of work after liberation.
There used to be a dirt road in front of the Dahua Textile Factory. It was named Dahua Road because of the name of the factory. It was later widened and hardened during urban reconstruction in 1954 and renamed Taihua Road.
After liberation, Dahua Textile Factory was reorganized several times and later became a famous enterprise in the northwest textile industry. The "Yanta" and "Liaoyuan" fine cloths it created were sold well in the northwest and southwest regions, becoming the most famous textile brands in the northwest.
In the 1980s and 1990s, the production situation of Dahua Textile Factory deteriorated due to the inability of the planned economy operation model to adapt to the requirements of the diversified market.
Finally, in October 2018, Dahua Textile Factory was unable to maintain operations and declared policy bankruptcy.
Although Dahua Textile Factory went bankrupt, the factory area has been preserved as an industrial site, complementing the ruins of Daming Palace across Taihua Road.
In order to rejuvenate the old factory, Qujiang Company transformed it into an art district based on the old factory model of the Textile City.
Today, Dahua Textile Factory has been built into a cross-border cultural and commercial community that integrates fashion, food, culture, leisure, entertainment, shopping and other urban comprehensive consumption. It is named "Dahua·1935", which not only respects history, but also
face to the future.
Now, in your spare time, wandering in the "Dahua·1935" community gives people a feeling of traveling through history.
Visiting the museum converted from an old factory and savoring the past and present life of Dahua Textile Factory, people can't help but think of its glorious past, and the chirping of textile machines seems like yesterday.
At the same time, the museum also displays some old objects from China's urban development, such as "three turns, one ring and one click" ("three turns": bicycles, sewing machines, watches; "one ring": radio; "one click": camera), etc.
, people can’t help but feel the rapid changes in economic and social development.
Walking out of the factory and walking in the cultural and commercial blocks converted from factories gives people a relaxing feeling.
In addition to the fast pace of life, traveling through time and space, reading books in quiet bookstores, browsing in historical shops, and eating leisurely in unique snack bars make people feel as if they can temporarily forget about the world.
Hustle and spend the moment leisurely.
