Dashiwo Town has a long history and splendid culture. Yunju Temple is known as "Dunhuang in Beijing" for its unique stone carvings and Buddhist scriptures in the world. Located on the Juma River, Zhenjiang English Site is a famous Neolithic cultural site in Beijing. In addition, there are the Jade Emperor Pagoda in Gaozhuang, the bronze bell in Shiwo in Ming Dynasty, the ruins of the ancient city of Warring States and three ancient pagodas over 300 years old.
Dashiwo Town is rich in stone resources, excellent in quality and various in variety. The development of stone can be traced back to Yan State in the Warring States Period, with a history of more than 2,000 years. White marble is clean and easy to carve, and it is a national treasure in building stone. The stone materials used in palace buildings such as the Forbidden City in Beijing and royal gardens such as Yuanmingyuan and Summer Palace are mostly collected from Dashiwo. After the reform and opening up, the white marble carving and stone processing in Dashiwo Town have made great progress. This stone carving technology is widely used in modern architecture, not only exported to all parts of the country, but also exported to many countries and regions in the world. Because of the nourishment of stone carving culture, Dashiwo has successively won the reputation of "the hometown of stone carving art", "the hometown of calligraphy and painting" and "the hometown of Chinese folk art". In August 2004, the National Development and Reform Commission listed it as a characteristic town of national stone carving industry. With the rapid development of stone carving industry as the leading industry, various economic and social undertakings in the town have shown a good trend of all-round development, and remarkable achievements have been made in improving the environment of the town, the glory of stone carving industry, strengthening the town and enriching the people with characteristic agriculture, and the construction of three civilizations.
