Hukou Waterfall

Introduction to scenic spots

Hukou Waterfall is a national scenic spot and a national AAAAA-level tourist attraction. It borders Hukou Town, Jixian County, Linfen City, Shanxi Province in the east and Hukou Town, Yichuan County, Yan 'an City, Shaanxi Province in the west, which is a tourist attraction in the two provinces. It is the second largest waterfall in China and the largest yellow waterfall in the world. The Yellow River flows here, with steep stone walls on both sides and narrow estuaries like Hukou, hence the name Hukou Waterfall.

Hukou Waterfall is very spectacular. The yellow water pours down, the rapids surge, the turbid waves roll, the water foam splashes, the smoke lingers, the waves roar, and the sound shocks for miles. The height of the waterfall can reach 15-2 meters in dry season and 45 meters in summer and autumn. During the flood, the torrent rolled and gushed out of the deep trough, and the waterfall became a torrent and disappeared. The river flows down the deep trough for 5 kilometers, which is the Mengmen Gate. After leaving the Mengmen Gate, the water surface widens, the water potential slows down, and it returns to the scene above the Dragon King.

Xi 'an-Hukou go on road trip

There are two buses from Xi 'an to Hukou every day, at 8: am and 13:2 pm respectively, with a total length of 35 kilometers and a journey of about 4 hours. The whole fare is about 97.5 yuan.

Linfen-Hukou Self-help Tour

From Linfen City, drive along Linji Expressway to Jixian County for about 1 kilometers, and then drive for 45 kilometers to Hukou Town, that is, to Hukou Waterfall Scenic Area. The whole journey takes about 1.5 hours.

The Yellow River enters the "Hukou", and the turbulence is rapid, causing water mist to fly.

The fog at the spout is related to the season and flow rate. In winter, the river is frozen, the waterfalls are mostly ice, the incoming water from the surface is reduced, the flow at the hukou is reduced to 15-5 cubic meters per second, the water flows down, the surf is not big, and there is little water mist flying out of the trough; In summer, the flow rate increases greatly, the water overflows the deep trough, the drop is very small, the waterfall disappears, and it is not easy to form dense water mist rising into the sky; In spring and autumn, the flow is moderate, the temperature is not high, the waterfall falls more than 2 meters, and the rapids splash, forming a fog that diffuses in the air, that is, the scene of "underwater smoking".

The water mist formed by repeated impacts of Hukou Waterfall rises into the air, causing sunlight to refract and form a rainbow. The rainbow is sometimes inserted into the water from the sky in an arc shape, like a long dragon absorbing water; Sometimes a straight ribbon crosses the water, like a colorful bridge flying frame, and sometimes flowers appear in the thick smoke and fog, colorful, erratic and confusing, which is a wonder of the world.

playing with neon lights is the product of "underwater smoke" and sunlight. In spring and autumn, there is smoke at the bottom of the water and dense fog hanging high. Every sunny day, the oblique sunlight often forms a rainbow. After a rainy day in summer, sometimes rainbows appear.

(3) The ice peaks are upside down

In the dead of winter, the dragon trough is frozen, and the water columns formed by the turbulent flow on both sides of the river are like ice peaks of different sizes hanging upside down from the cliff. The rainbows are hidden and floating in the meantime, and the colorful colors are set off against the crystal, which makes visitors all sigh the magic of nature.

(4) Thunder in dry days

The Yellow River passes through the canyon. The surging waves are like thousands of horses, rushing and roaring, and the sound vibrates the valley. When the waterfall flies down and repeatedly impacts the rocks and the water surface, it produces a huge sound, which echoes in the valley, just like drums ringing, thunder in dry days, and the sound travels for more than ten miles. Only near Hukou Waterfall can you really feel "Yellow River roaring" and "Yellow River roaring", which is very spectacular.
