There is a kind of coriaria in Tujia mountain village, which grows everywhere. Spring has come, and it sends out red and tender moss from the roots of old trees, which grows rapidly.

When it grows to a height of about one meter, it begins to bow its head and no longer grows upward, with small branches and weak potential; In autumn, leaves fall one after another, leaving only bare branches;

In the cold winter, some branches dry up, and some turn into soil in the wind, frost, rain and snow. Year after year, it just doesn't grow up.

Legend has it that mulberry was originally tall and strong, and it was still a good building material. But one summer hundreds of years ago, a Taoist priest enjoyed the cool under a coriaria tree, tied his horse to the tree and fell asleep unconsciously under the tree.

Unexpectedly, when he woke up, hundreds of years passed, the mulberry tree had grown to the clouds for a long time, and the horse was suspended in mid-air. He was so angry that he cast spells and chanted spells. Since then, mulberry trees have changed from trees to shrubs.

Among many tree species, mulberry is the least popular among villagers. Can't be used as wood. When the firewood is not strong, the fruit is very small, and it will be poisoned if you eat too much.

There is also a saying in the "Weeping Wedding Song" of Tujia Shanzhai that "chopping wood is not enough to chop down Sang Zi's horses, and opening a family is not enough".

In the memory of the villagers, mulberry seems to have only one purpose, that is, to cut off the tender branches and leaves it has just issued in spring as the base fertilizer for planting potatoes and corn.

There is also a kind of tree named Mulberry growing in Tujia mountain village. Although it is only one word short of Mulberry's name, in the eyes of villagers, it can be said that one is in the sky and the other is on the ground.

Mulberry leaves are no different from ordinary leaves, but they can spit out exquisite silk after eating. The contribution of mulberry trees to human beings was recorded as early as in Oracle Bone Inscriptions of Shang Dynasty.

Mulberry is tall and strong. Every summer, the luxuriant branches and leaves of mulberries are like canopy. I had a happy childhood under the shade of mulberry trees.

By the end of summer, green mulberries began to grow among the branches and leaves of mulberry trees. Mulberries are scattered from small to large. In our expectation, the mulberry gradually changed from green to red, and then from red to purple.

After school, some friends climbed the mulberry tree to pick, some collected on the ground, and everyone enjoyed the delicious food given to us by God with cheerful laughter.

However, eating mulberries can't fool others, just like eating wild water chestnut. The juice dyed all the hands, mouth, teeth and tongue purple. Sometimes I eat too much or eat immature mulberries, and my teeth are sour, so I can't eat for several days.

That scene is still imprinted on my mind. Nowadays, mulberry has become a good tonic for people.

Let's talk about mulberry trees. Maybe it has a mulberry word in its name. After careful study, it is found that it has many similarities with mulberry.

I remember when I was in primary school, the school carried out work-study programs. We were too young to do anything important, so we learned to raise silkworms, whose food is mulberry leaves. Maybe the silkworm is different from the silkworm that eats mulberry leaves, but the silk it spits out is as beautiful as the silkworm raised by mulberry leaves.

By the end of summer, green mulberry fruits began to grow between the branches and leaves of mulberry trees, from small to large, from green to red, and then from red to purple, just like mulberries, but only the size of soybeans. Mature taste is sweet.

I ate it when I was a child, but my big brothers and sisters who played with me often reminded me not to bite the seeds when I ate it, or I would be poisoned.

Although mulberries are poisonous, goats like to eat them, including its leaves, tidbits and fruits. According to the shepherd of the older generation, the leaves and fruits of Coriaria are of high nutritional value, and the sheep gain weight quickly after eating them.

In fact, not only goat herders like to eat mulberries, but also experienced old farmers like to eat mulberries. They mash mulberries and put them on the roots of vegetables, or mash mulberries and spray them on the leaves of vegetables or fruit trees with water to prevent pests and diseases.

Last summer, we went to the countryside to play, and the cold-water fish we tasted in the stream was mashed by fellow villagers with mulberry leaves and put into the stream for live performance.

Like mulberries, Coriaria is full of vitality, which can be seen everywhere on the hillside, by the pond, in front of the house and behind the house, and in the miscellaneous forests in the countryside.

It is drought-resistant and cold-resistant, and can grow as long as there is soil, accompanied by stones, thatch, thorns and vines on the mountain.

As long as the spring breeze blows, the mulberry trees all over the mountain will spit green, grow full of vitality, grow lush, green mountains and green waters, beautiful homeland.

As far as I know, there seems to be no superfluous creature in the world, and there is always a reason for its existence. Just like mulberry, most people don't like it, but it has been quietly contributing to mankind, but most of us don't know it yet.
