Eating zongzi on Dragon Boat Festival is to commemorate the ancient poet Qu Yuan. Qu Yuan wrote many famous poems and put forward many patriotic political opinions in his life, but the king of Chu refused to adopt them. Finally, the territory of Chu State was invaded, and Qu Yuan, full of anxiety and anger, committed suicide by jumping into the river. In order to commemorate him and pay tribute to him, people throw zongzi and many delicious foods into the river on this day every year to prevent fish from eating Qu Yuan's body.
On the Dragon Boat Festival, I asked my mother how to make zongzi. My mother said, "Zongzi is wrapped in white glutinous rice and candied dates, with green and tender reed leaves inside." If there are no candied dates, you can use beans instead. It takes a night to cook it. After cooking, peel off the reed leaves that become dark green, and you can see the white glutinous rice and jujube balls inside, which are delicious, sweet but not greasy. It is not only an appetizer, but also a nutritional tonic.
Dragon Boat Festival is so happy and interesting! I learned more knowledge and increased my knowledge. It's good to celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival!
