At this time, the young Yang Shen quietly recited the second couplet to his father: "The grain is yellow, the rice is white, and the rice is like frost." His father then read his son's couplet to the emperor. The emperor was delighted and immediately gave him a glass of wine.
Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty was also addicted to hot pot. He traveled to the south of the Yangtze River many times, and every place he visited had hot pot.
According to legend, he held a "Thousands of Old Banquet" in the palace in the first month of the first year of Jiaqing. More than 1,550 hot pot dishes were served to the whole table, and more than 5,000 people were invited to taste it, making it the largest hot pot feast in history.
Modern In modern times, some cultural celebrities also have a special liking for hot pot. Hu Shi, a celebrity, is very fond of hot pot in his hometown of Huizhou. When entertaining guests at family banquets, most of his wives will carefully cook Huizhou hot pot to entertain the guests.
In a short memoir titled "Two or Three Things About Mr. Hu Shi", the famous writer Liang Shiqiu described the deep impression Huizhou hot pot left on him and Hu Shi's preference for Huizhou hot pot.
