Danu Festival, also known as Erjiu Festival, Zunniang Festival, Zhuzhu Festival and Yao Year, is the most solemn traditional festival for Bunu Yao people to worship their ancestors every year. It is held on the 29th day of the fifth lunar month every year, and it is an important activity for Bunu Yao people to sacrifice their ancestors Milo. On this day, Yao people kill pigs and sheep and hold a feast. Men, women and children wear national costumes. Danu, Yao means loving mother. It is said that the 29th day of the fifth lunar month is the birthday of the Yao mother Miruotuo. Later generations set this day as their birthday out of worship.

After the sacrificial ceremony, they took glutinous rice dumplings, eggs and other foods and rushed to the open mountainside or mountain pass for dinner and drinking, beating gongs and drums, singing and dancing, shooting crossbows, playing hide and seek, shooting birds, bullfighting and horse racing. Especially young men and women who sing day and night. The general activities are scattered all day and one night, and the three rural Yao townships in Donglan are the most popular.

1, teasing birds

There are certain rules for shooting birds. At the beginning of the bird fighting, opponents put the cages together until the birds on both sides flapped their wings and shook their feet and rushed out of the cage door to pounce on each other. At this time, the door of the cage was opened at the same time, allowing two birds to fight each other. The winning bird is so popular that onlookers are bargaining for it.

2. Bow and arrow competition

On the day of "Danu Day", the young man walked onto the stage with a bow and arrow in high spirits. The target is standing forty or fifty meters away. Among the onlookers, the girl is the most dedicated. Whoever is good at archery can easily get the girl's token of love-a square towel embroidered with corns and bird's eyes.

3. Horse racing

This horse is a family heirloom of Bunuyao. The horse farm on Danu Festival is not on a smooth road, but on a rugged mountain road. Saddles are not allowed to be used when riding, so the requirements for riders are higher. The first winner to reach the finish line is often rushed to the bridle by girls to arrange flowers and get colorful towels for the riders.
