Were you happy as a child?

Of course I am happy. I have a good memory of my childhood.

My home is in the countryside, not the city. The countryside is not as dirty and messy as some people think. Although it is not as clean as the city, the countryside also has its advantages. In the countryside, the sky is vast, the sky is high, the land is unrestrained and free. Here, I share with you some interesting stories from my childhood, so that we can feel the happiness together.

When I was 6 years old, it was summer. When I was a child, the sky was much bluer than it is now, the water in the river was much clearer, and some small puddles were also very clean. We often fish in puddles and catch tadpoles. That time, my friends and I found a few bottles and went to the puddle to catch tadpoles. Adults told us that tadpoles are wonderful creatures. They are good little animals and cannot be harmed. They can turn into frogs and help crops eliminate pests.

The adults thought we wouldn’t catch them, but we caught them anyway and told them righteously that we would grow tadpoles into frogs to help you eat pests. We were afraid that the tadpoles would be hungry, so we specially got some water plants, mud, etc. and stuffed them into the bottles. Unexpectedly, a strange combination of circumstances solved the problem of tadpole eating, because tadpoles originally feed on water plants. We were very happy and anxious during the few days we raised tadpoles. Every day I watched to see if the tadpoles had grown up. I watched them once in the morning and again at night. I yelled to my parents, why haven’t the tadpoles turned into frogs yet? Because it has been a long time, I have forgotten whether the tadpole was killed by us in the end or whether it really turned into a frog.

There is another very interesting thing. There is a river near my home called the Ying River. When I heard that there were fish in the river, the men, women, and children in the village were carrying fishing nets, bags, basins, baskets, etc. As long as it can hold something, take it to the river to catch fish. The scene was really spectacular, even more lively than the vegetable market. Sometimes, even passers-by go down to the river to catch a few.

Some people row their boats to the middle of the river, and with fishing tools, they can fish out a long fish. And some people, without boats, can only catch fish by the river. There are many on the river, not only fish but also shrimps and crabs. When there are many fish, you can catch them with your hands. There were many types of fish caught. My father told me about many types of fish. I didn’t remember any of them. I only remembered the types of ways to cook and eat fish.

What impressed me the most was that I caught a turtle and wanted to take it back to keep. My mother said, what’s the use of this bastard? Throw it away quickly and come here to catch the fish. At that time, I really wanted to take it home and raise it, or it would be good to eat turtles, but when I thought about it, my mother would definitely not cook it for me, so I gave up silently. Thinking about it this way, I have been a foodie since I was a child.

That night, I caught a lot of them, like that kind of cloth bag, there were half a bag. If you stand on the bridge and look at the people under the bridge, the simple farmers and people who rely on the sky for their livelihood have smiles on their faces that are happy despite the hard work. There are people on both sides of the river using various fishing tools to catch fish, but this sight can no longer be seen. Now the water has dried up and the water quality has deteriorated. There are still some white plastic bags floating in the river. Although it doesn't smell bad, I think if we don't take measures, there will be no room for recovery of this river.

There are many interesting things about my childhood. I have only listed two here. I was really happy when I was a kid.
