Emmett's workshop was quite dirty. The table tops on the assembly line were in tatters. There was a layer of black ash on the floor. There was no air conditioning. The canteen was also dirty. I don’t understand why so many people flock to such a rotten factory every day. The interviewers are busy every day, and the applicants are like groups of tourists. Although wages are high, prices are also high. When the boss is faced with paying high wages, in order for the factory to survive, technological improvement does not happen overnight. There are two simplest and fastest methods: Changbai shift or double shift. Therefore, when we enter a large factory, we simply have to work all-night shifts or endless overtime. 80% of Emmett employees do not have night shifts.

A small number of people at MSI only work the day shift, and most people work two shifts. In the group I stayed in, I and another colleague took turns working the night shift. At night, I did the testing alone in the huge workshop. You can only see some colleagues working on the computer in a distant corner. In addition to checking the 7S staff, they occasionally come over once or twice for inspections throughout the night. They don’t even bother you. The workload is not heavy and it is not an assembly line. If you encounter problems and can’t find the PE, just Save tomorrow, just finish your work, and spend the rest of the time hiding in a corner playing with your phone and sleeping. Maybe the group I was assigned to was a little better. It is said that some workshops have all-night shifts standing up, and there are still people supervising them.

The salary is not high, about 4,000, accommodation is included but food is not included, and meals are 10 yuan a day. Sundays are usually off. There are 8-person dormitories for college students. The workshop environment is okay, and there is air conditioning. It is comfortable for newcomers when they arrive. I was scolded and wanted to leave when I first came, but I admired the monitor's computer skills and chose to stay. Later, the monitor was promoted to PE, and I became a veteran employee. The working atmosphere in the whole company is a bit depressing. You can't chat while working. The colleagues around you are basically young women and old bachelors. I see very few unmarried girls. Some of them are more than enough, and they are either bitches or crack dates. Do you want to join the factory to find a girlfriend? Want a good wife and mother? It’s simply a fantasy! It’s not impossible, but you have to weigh your own conditions and opportunities. Chinese women are generally very vain, and they give priority to finding men to be officials. As long as you don’t mind being cheated and don’t mind low quality, you can still have fun.

On June 26, 2018, a stabbing incident occurred in the workshop on the second floor of Building A of MSI. A young man brought a knife from outside and stabbed a technician to death on the spot. A QC was also stabbed and seriously injured. Later, the young man was sent to the police station. MSI tried its best to cover up the whole incident, and the reporter did not let it go. I saw a sign on the gate of the factory that read "Emergency incident, rest in Building A." "Three days", the rest of the people went to work as usual, no meetings, no discussions, no reaction from the management, it was as quiet as stepping on an ant. The people were recruited by MSI and managed by MSI. MSI has no responsibility at all when something like this happens? There was no change in the management style afterwards, it was as if nothing had happened. At that time, I was really worried that one day I would disappear without anyone noticing, live a humble life, and die even more humblely. The only thing that changed was in the factory area. There is an additional security check at the door, which is really simple and crude. Now I can’t even bring in late-night snacks.

I originally planned to wait until the Chinese New Year before leaving my job. Unexpectedly, I brought my mobile phone into the workshop several times during the year-end accounting in December.
