M4A3E2 began production in 1944, mainly to provide heavy armor support for infantry in the coming large-scale battle. The main gun of M4A3E2 is a 75mm gun, which has a short barrel, and the grenade power is acceptable, but its anti-armor ability is weak. In the later period, a part of M4A3E2 was replaced by a 76mm gun with the same long tube as M4A3E8. In the case of using high-speed armor-piercing projectile, its anti-armor ability is better than the 85mm tank gun of T-34-85 and close to the 70-caliber 75mm gun of Panther. Thanks to the Ford V8 columnar liquid-cooled engine which can provide 500 horsepower, the M4A3E2, although weighing 38 tons, still performs satisfactorily on the battlefield and maintains good maneuverability when crossing soft terrain. 1944 Fisher Tank Factory began to produce this type of tank in May, and delivered 254 tanks in June. However, Dumbo has only been produced for two months, and the output is only 254, because it is only an emergency product. When M26 started production, its mission ended.
