After the 1960s, Sino-Soviet relations broke down, and the United States took the opportunity to win over China to jointly check and balance the Soviet Union.

At that time, the Soviet Union focused on Europe, but Asia, a big territory, could not be ignored, so it was urgent to find an Asian agent. After much consideration, the Soviet Union finally decided to support Vietnam as an important helper to balance China.

At that time, Vietnam had just won the war with the United States, and its self-confidence exploded for some time, eager to establish its position as the boss in Southeast Asia. At this time, the Soviet Union extended an olive branch. With the support of the Soviet Union, Vietnam became even more complacent and successively launched wars to occupy Laos and Cambodia.

However, this did not satisfy him. Later, he turned his attention to China, frequently created troubles on the Sino-Vietnamese border, and repeatedly killed my unarmed innocent citizens across the border. At the beginning, China made repeated forbearance with the good intention of solving the problem peacefully, but Viet Nam interpreted this forbearance as weakness and made the situation worse.

Finally, the China administration decided to launch a self-defense counterattack against Vietnam. 1979, 17 In February, hundreds of thousands of soldiers of our army attacked the Vietnamese army from Guangxi and Yunnan at the same time, and the counterattack against Vietnam in self-defense officially kicked off.

During the whole self-defense counterattack against Vietnam, fierce battles broke out between China and Vietnam, and the battle of lang son was definitely the most fierce and tragic one, which was called the war meat grinder.

Lang son, Vietnam is located in the south of Guangxi Province in China and the north of Vietnam. The northern part is about18km from the Sino-Vietnamese border, and the southern part is about130km from Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. In the north of lang son, there are mountains and jungles. South of lang son lies the northern plain, with paddy fields and dense water networks.

There are many roads and railways passing through it, reaching the Sino-Vietnamese border in the north and Hanoi in the south. Lang son is not only the transportation hub of North Vietnam, but also the gateway to Hanoi, the capital, so its strategic position is crucial.

On March 1979 and March 1 day, a fierce battle broke out in lang son. The 3rd Division of the Vietnamese People's Army under the First Military Region of Hanoi is guarding lang son. This army is very good at attacking and fighting melee and night battles. It is famous for its outstanding achievements in the Anti-American War and won the title of "Hero of the People's Armed Forces".

At the beginning of the Battle of lang son, this unit paid no attention to our army from top to bottom, and even boasted about Haikou: "Go to Friendship Pass for breakfast and Nanning for Spring Festival!" Arrogance is evident.

But soon, our army dumped them with strength and gave them a loud slap in the face. The 55th Army of the Chinese Army defeated one of them in Deng Tong, and the remaining remnants of the 3rd Division had to camp in the mountains around lang son, waiting for reinforcements.

Seeing that the situation was not good, the Vietnamese army sent an elite capital defense force from Hanoi to lang son to launch a counterattack. In the battle, the Vietnamese army used chemical weapons that violated international law, and there was no shame. The 55th Army was forced to retreat, and the artillery division behind China was quickly sent to the front line for rescue, resulting in heavy casualties for both China and Vietnam.

On March 1 day, China mobilized more than 300 guns and transported them to the front. Tens of thousands of shells were fired in just 30 minutes, and lang son suddenly became a sea of fire. The whole land has been turned over several times.

After the artillery shells were launched, the China army began to attack, and the Vietnamese army also urgently dispatched artillery units to carry out shelling based on the built defensive positions. Then the two sides began to bombard each other with guns, and at that time smoke billowed and covered the sky.

On March 2nd, under the cover of artillery, China army launched a new round of attack with tanks and armored forces. On March 4th, the Vietnamese army was attacked from the flank by two divisions in China, and then broke up. The People's Liberation Army captured lang son, thus ending the lang son campaign that shocked China and foreign countries.

China's army occupied lang son, and further south, it was already Ma Pingchuan. You can send troops south and capture Hanoi in one fell swoop. However, the China administration believes that the purpose of sending troops to Vietnam is to fight back in self-defense. Now that the expected purpose has been achieved, there is no need to go any further, which can also show the attitude of our government to the international community.

On March 5th, the China government announced the end of the war, and all Chinese border guards withdrew to China. Since then, the 55th Army became famous in World War I, and wiped out tens of thousands of enemy troops in the Vietnam War, making it the largest number of enemy troops in China.

After the war, the Vietnamese government built a memorial hall called lang son Mass Pit, the main purpose of which was to publicize China's invasion of Vietnam, entrapping and killing tens of thousands of Vietnamese people in the battle of lang son, and dressing up as a poor victim.

However, the reality is that this mass grave is just a fortification of "the same fortress". The Vietnamese government's purpose in doing so is nothing more than to discredit our army and China by distorting history, so as to gain the sympathy of the international community. However, this practice of ignoring the historical truth and misinterpreting the facts at will cannot stand the test of time after all.
