Hongya county belongs to Meishan city.

Hongya county is located in the southwest edge of Sichuan basin and is under the jurisdiction of Meishan city. The highest elevation in the county is 39 meters, and the lowest elevation is 417.5 meters. Covering an area of 1896 square kilometers, the county people's government is located in Hongchuan Town. According to the data of the seventh census, as of : on November 1, 22, the permanent population of Hongya County was 295,744.

Hongya county belongs to "National Ecological Demonstration Zone", "China Ecological Civilization Award Advanced Collective", "Sichuan Ecological Civilization Demonstration Project Pilot County" and the first batch of "Ecological Counties" in Sichuan Province. It has formed four leading industries: machinery manufacturing, building materials, chemicals and eco-food processing.
