Muntjac usually comes out for activities and foraging in the evening or early morning, and rests in the bushes during the day. Red muntjac is timid and cautious. When frightened, it will make a sound like a dog barking. It is a herbivore, feeding on plants and flowers, and its activity area is very fixed, so it won't run around.

Yellow deer

Classification of muntjac deer. It is a small deer, and its body length is usually about 75cm to115cm. Adult muntjac will not weigh more than 35 kilograms.

Muntjac is a typical tropical and subtropical forest or forest-edge shrub species, mainly inhabiting tropical rain forest, monsoon forest, subtropical evergreen broad-leaved forest and other areas.

There are four kinds of red muntjac in China, namely black muntjac, small muntjac, red muntjac and Fiji muntjac, among which the number of black muntjac is the least among the four.
