Huangyao Ancient Town is located in the northeast of Zhaoping County, Hezhou, Guangxi, 40 kilometers away from Hezhou City and 200 kilometers away from Guilin. The ancient town has the reputation of "living Millennium ancient town" and is a famous historical and cultural town.
Because Hezhou, Guangxi, where Huangyao Ancient Town is located, has passed the high-speed rail, which is a small station between Guilin and Guangzhou. Now the traffic to Huangyao is much more convenient than before. Take Chongqing as an example. Now the high-speed train from Chongqing to Hezhou takes just over six hours, and it can arrive at noon in the morning.
I went to Huangyao from Zhaoqing that day. The weather in Zhaoqing suddenly changed that morning, so I ended my trip in Zhaoqing ahead of schedule. After I changed my ticket to high-speed railway station, I arrived in Hezhou three hours earlier. After leaving the station, I found that the bus from Hezhou to Huangyao had just left, so I carpooled with several locals and followed them to Huangyao Ancient Town by private car. I didn't bring my luggage that day, but a few locals accompanied me, so I came to the ancient town easily.
There are many inns in the old street. Because the National Day Golden Week didn't last long, there were not many tourists coming to the ancient town, and the house price was very cheap. So I found a good-looking inn in the old street to stay, and then I took a mobile phone to stroll around the ancient town.
Not far from my inn is this stone arch bridge, which was built in the third year of Ming Wanli. Its name seems to be "Dragon Bridge". This is a stepped stone arch bridge, which is the most beautiful scenery in the ancient town, but it has been raining that day. It didn't take long to go back to the inn to rest.
When I got up the next morning, it rained harder and harder. I walked around the old street for two hours in the rain. It was raining that day, and it was not a weekend. There are not many tourists in the ancient town. There are several breakfast stalls on the roadside, which basically sell flour and noodles, including rice flour and horseshoe powder.
The old lady had the most guests in her house that morning. In addition to rice noodles and horseshoe powder, she also has a handmade rice noodle made by herself. I ordered a bowl of horseshoe powder alone, with lobster sauce and pepper. It was really delicious.
Because I am alone, I can't taste many delicious foods. On the day in the ancient town, on the way to Huangyao, I tasted the tofu brain recommended by the locals. They said that I can eat it anywhere in the ancient town, and the fermented tofu brain is authentic.
I ordered this stewed tofu in the farmhouse restaurant next to the inn. The elder sister who cooks said that the tofu she made was soaked in tender tofu, fried on both sides for a while, and then sprinkled with chopped green onion, which looked clean and delicious.
