Brief introduction of Jiujiang British concession
186 1 in March, 2000, British imperial envoy Right Counsellor signed the Jiujiang Land Lease Agreement with Zhang, the Qing government's deployment envoy to Jiangxi, according to the provisions of Article 1 of the Sino-British Tianjin Treaty, and delineated the area west of Lane (the office building of the Port Authority). The riverside area east of Longkai River is a British concession with an area of about 150 mu. After the scope of land lease was determined, 1862, the British forcibly demolished residents' houses, filled Xupu Port, which runs through the Yangtze River and Gantang Lake, and started to build a series of Western-style buildings, and formally established concessions including British Consulate, Japanese Consulate, British Patrol House, Court, Ministry of Industry, French Catholic Church and Catholic Hospital.
