Yu, whose surname is Si, whose given name is Wenming, and whose country name is Xiahou, is said to be the great-grandson of Emperor Zhuanxu.

His father's name is Gun, and his mother is Xiuji, a daughter of the Youxin family.

According to legend, Yu succeeded in curing floods in the Yellow River and was granted the throne by Shun.

Qi, son of Yu, was the first emperor of the Xia Dynasty.

He is a sage emperor who is as famous as Yao and Shun in the legendary era of our country. His most outstanding achievements have always been praised for controlling the monstrous floods and demarcating the territory of China as Kyushu.

Dayu's surname was Si (Si 4), and his given name was Wenming. He was a native of the ancient Tushan clan (now Huaiyuan, Anhui). Because of his merits in controlling floods, later generations called him Dayu, which means great Yu.

Later, Dayu's son Qi founded my country's first slave state, the Xia Dynasty. Therefore, later generations also called him Xia Yu.
