What is "American food"? For many people, American food is hamburgers, hot dogs and fried chicken. However, are these the only types of American food?
It’s hard to find typical American food other than turkey for Thanksgiving. The United States is a country of immigrants. When people immigrated to the United States, they brought their cooking methods with them. So the food Americans eat comes from many different countries. That's why you can find so many ethnically diverse foods in the United States, such as Italian pizza, Mexican tacos, and Chinese spring rolls. But they taste different from the country of origin!
As a big country, the United States has many regions, and the food in each region has its own unique style. You can travel to the South and enjoy its country-style cooking, to the New England states for their seafood meals, and to the Midwest for its baked goods.
Americans now live a fast-paced life and often eat casually. One of the most ubiquitous convenience foods is the sandwich. There are also Americans who choose to eat junk food, but some people prefer an all-natural diet. They refuse to eat food with additives.
There is a saying in American culture that explains their habits very well: the food you eat becomes what you eat. Different foods reflect different personal food tastes. All in all, they are American foods.
