It governs 28 administrative villages (residential) and 42 natural villages, with an existing population of11560,000, and more than 40,000 people and 60,000 overseas Chinese living all over the country. It is a famous hometown of overseas Chinese. Chaoyang district governs the town. 1952 is the seventh district of Chaoyang county, 1956 is changed to Tongyu Township, 1958 to Hongfeng Commune, 1959 to Tongyu Commune, 1983 to District and 1986 to Town. Located in the city center, 20 kilometers away from the city. It covers an area of 42.4 square kilometers and has a population of 92,000. Honghe Highway (connected with National Highway 324) and Tonggui Highway pass through the territory. It has jurisdiction over three neighborhood committees: Tongbo, Qian Sheng and Laoxi, Huaqi, Caowei, Gangkou, Helong, Bian Xi, Shen Ling, Xinqiao, Jixing, Guangxing, Qi Mei, Zhaimei, Nandao, Beidao, Yujiao, Shuangqi, Chaogang, Fengtian, Hufeng, Shangshang, Qi Xin, Xidongli and Xiaodu.
