Around Chengdu, this 1,300-year-old town has plenty of food but few tourists. It’s worth a visit.

Among the many ancient towns around Chengdu, Sichuan, Tangchang Town, located at the intersection of Pixian County, Dujiangyan and Pengzhou, with a history of more than 1,300 years, is not outstanding.

But the vivid and rich urban life it displayed attracted me to visit.

Different from other ancient towns, Tangchang Town is more like a town that combines ancient charm and modern flavor. Here, the bustle of tourists is replaced by the deep simplicity and tranquility of the alleys and the leisurely atmosphere of life.

Ancient buildings with a long history, former residences of famous people with gray bricks and blue tiles, and unique Western Sichuan houses are scattered in several ancient lanes, and these lanes are surrounded by modern markets. Walking here seems to have been in the past and present.

shuttle.

According to records, Tangchang Town was called Chongning County in ancient times.

It was first built in the second year of Yifeng of the Tang Dynasty (AD 677) and was originally called Tangchang County, which means the prosperity of the Tang Dynasty.

In the first year of Chongning in the Song Dynasty (1102 AD), Tangchang was renamed Chongning County.

After liberation, the county was withdrawn and incorporated into Pixian County.

Historically, Tangchang has been an important market town in western Sichuan since the Tang Dynasty, with many merchants and rich people. In the Ming and Qing Dynasties, temples were prosperous and there were many palaces and temples. There was a grand occasion of "the splendid Tangchang has a history of thousands of years, and seven palaces and eight temples are like a dream"

, with thousands of years of rich history, far-reaching culture and beautiful bells and whistles, it can be called a famous cultural town in Western Sichuan.

But now, only the most representative Confucian Temple remains among the seven palaces and eight temples.

Built in the Song Dynasty and renovated during the Qianlong and Guangxu years of the Qing Dynasty, this majestic and simple wooden structure not only demonstrates its long history, but also embodies the strong local cultural atmosphere.

Dachun Lane in the drizzle is simple and elegant, shaded by green trees. Rain drips down the green roof tiles. The moist corners are covered with green moss. There is no one in the winding and long alley. During the stroll,

, I can't help but think of Dai Wangshu's song "Rain Alley", but here there is no girl holding an oil-paper umbrella with a sad expression, only the lonely falling leaves dancing in the autumn rain.

Today's Tangchang, the noisy prosperity of the past has slowly faded away, and as the years go by, it gradually becomes silent in the depths of history.

But every brick, tile, street, alley, house and courtyard here still bear witness to its past glory and the changes of the times.

If the long-standing traces of history here make you miss it, then the simple city life here will also make you like it.

In the leisurely and comfortable town, there are parks with lush vegetation, authentic and delicious food, old people chatting leisurely, and fragrant bowls of tea...these atmosphere of ordinary people's lives fills the entire ancient Tangchang Town.

This evocative "fireworks on earth" is worth spending some time to appreciate and feel.
