The wind, flowers, snow and moon are the four most famous landscapes in Dali, which refer to the Xiaguan wind, Shangguan flowers, Cangshan snow and Erhai moon.
1. Xiaguan wind Xiaguan wind refers to the wind that blows into Xiaguan from the Xi'erli Zha Valley. It lasts all year round, especially in winter and spring. The maximum wind speed reaches level 10.
Xiaguan is located at the exit of the long valley between Cangshan Mountain and Ailao Mountain. The hundreds of miles of Cangshan Mountain blocks the atmospheric circulation. The straight westerly winds that prevail in winter and spring and the monsoons from the Indian Ocean and Bay of Bengal in summer and autumn enter Xiaguan through this valley.
The strong westerly wind between Cang'er in winter and spring and the southwesterly wind at the turn of summer and autumn are formed.
2. Shangguan Flowers Shangguan Flowers refer to Shangguan as an open grassland with colorful flowers covering the ground, so it is known as "Shangguan Flowers".
Dali's climate is mild and humid, with "winter ending in cold and summer ending in warm", which is most suitable for the growth of flowers and trees.
Therefore, loving and cultivating flowers has become a life custom of the Bai people in Dali.
The name of Shangguan flower comes from the fact that in ancient times there was a strange flower called "Chaozhu flower" in Shangguan. Its flower was as big as a lotus and its fragrance smelled ten miles away.
It is unknown when this flower was planted.
I only know that during the Zhizheng period of the Yuan Dynasty, the flowers bloomed very well, blooming every year and every month, and their rich fragrance spread hundreds of steps away.
3. Cangshan Snow Cangshan Snow refers to the snow on Cangshan Mountain that does not disappear after summer. It is a unique feature of Cangshan Mountain landscape.
In the cold winter, the sky is green and snow-capped.
In March, there are still piles of silver and jade above the snow line.
The snow on Cangshan Mountain that has not gone away after summer is the most famous "wind, flower, snow and moon".
The snow on Malong Peak, the highest peak, never melts all year round. In midsummer, the mountainside is verdant, but there are still clouds of snow on the top of the peak.
The trails on Cangshan Mountain in Dali are winding and steep. In the past, it was very difficult to go up to Cangshan Mountain to explore the wonders.
There is now a ropeway going directly up the mountain.
4. Erhai Moon Erhai Moon means that the Erhai Sea is shaped like an ear. When viewed from the air, the Erhai Lake is like a crescent moon, lying quietly between Cangshan Mountain and Dali Bazi.
Erhai Lake has three islands, four continents, five lakes and nine bends. The lake water is crystal clear and has been called "the flawless jade among the mountains" since ancient times.
Every moonlit night, the water color is like the sky and the moonlight is like water. It is called "Erhai Moon".
Every year on the night of the Mid-Autumn Festival on August 15th, the Bai people living on the Erhai Lake in Dali row wooden boats into the Erhai Lake to admire the golden moon reflected in the sea.
