The park was built in 1958, with a total area of 27.8 hectares and lakes accounting for 60%. It consists of Xiaocui Lake, Cuiyu Lake, Ruyi Lake and Wu Xiu Lake. After more than 40 years of construction, it has gradually formed a comprehensive park with a certain scale, which integrates sightseeing, amusement, entertainment and rest. The park is full of green grass, lush trees, pavilions, winding bridges and flowing water, which is a landscape of Lingnan water town.
In recent years, according to the ecological environment quality standard of Guangzhou Park, on the basis of the original park master plan, combined with its own development and the requirements of the city and district for the park, the park has carried out ecological upgrading planning and construction, created a number of ecological zones in the park, and improved the ecological quality and environmental benefits of the park.
I. Yuhu Ecological Zone:
Keep the existing central lawn, adjust and increase some tree species, increase flowering shrubs and undergrowth plants and flowers, create an ecological community of a certain scale, and become an open, bright and colorful sparse forest ecological center scenic spot.
A hydrophilic ecological corridor will be built on the lakeside, seats will be added, and aquatic plants will be planted on the lakeside.
Second, Xiguan Fengqing Island Ecological Zone
1, South Gate Inner Courtyard: it is adjacent to Fengqing Street in Lizhiwan in the west, and the outer streets are Xiaohuafangzhai, Chen Lianbo Mansion and Liwan Museum, surrounding Cuiyu Lake, with an area of 4,800 ㎡. Based on Xiguan customs, this area has dismantled amusement projects such as skating rink and antique Astrotrain, made landscaping, paved granite ground and granite square, installed antique railings and Manchu windows and doors, and transformed into a scenic spot full of Xiguan customs.
2. Shi Cuizhou: Shi Cuizhou is a small island surrounded by water. In order to increase the hydrophilic space, pebble beaches and healthy trails were opened on the north shore of the island, breathable environmental protection bricks and old sleepers were laid, and the varieties and levels of greening were adjusted to create a subtropical jungle.
Third, Wu Xiu Lake sparse forest grassland ecological zone.
Sunny, sparkling, smooth environment, broad vision, bright plant landscape, plant configuration close to the natural ecology, is a successful scenic spot in the park.
Rebuilding the famous garden Haishan Fairy Hall in Qing Dynasty is located on the lakeside of Wu Xiu, with 3000 square meters of lotus flowers and water lilies planted around the lake. In summer, the lotus flowers are in full bloom, and the lake is full of trees, which makes people linger.
4. Liwan Chung
Litchi Bay, with a long history and rich cultural landscape, is the main tourist attraction in Xiguan. After the regulation of Lai Chi Wan Chung, 760m of Ming Chung will be reserved. Among them, 420 meters pass through the Ruyi Lake area of the park and go straight out of the Pearl River. After the transformation, the two sides re-planned greening and planted more than 80 litchi trees/KLOC-0. In 2003, 25 litchi trees with the age of 30- 100 years were transplanted on both sides of the river by scientific research technology, and the survival rate was 100%. Soon, the charming scenery of "One Bay with Bixi and Litchi Red on both sides" will reappear on both sides of Litchi Bay.
Liwan Lake Park, with its unique landscape of Lingnan water town and traditional cultural connotation of Xiguan, has increasingly become a beautiful garden loved by the masses and a green treasure with a special liking for the people in Liwan District.
