History of Shiliupu Wharf
Old Shiliupu Wharf in Shanghai
According to "Shanghai Famous Street" compiled by Shanghai Archives, after Qianlong in Qing Dynasty, the sea was closed, and Shanghai Port became the connecting point of China's shipping trade between the north and the south because of its superior geographical position. At that time, there was a document that said, "All near and far trade moved into Huangpu from Wusongkou." At this time, the Shiliupu area was already the largest port in China.
The first appearance of "Shiliupu" in toponymy was in Xianfeng and Tongzhi years of Qing Dynasty, about 141 years ago. In order to defend against the Taiping rebels' attack, at that time, Shanghai county set up a kind of "shop" for joint insurance and joint defense for businesses inside and outside the city. The "shop" is responsible for the public security in the shop, and the business affairs are undertaken by all the firms in the shop. Initially, it was planned to divide 27 shops, but for various reasons, only 16 shops were actually divided (that is, from the first shop to the sixteenth shop). Among them, Shiliupu is the largest of the 16 shops, including Dadongmen, the county seat of Shanghai, Chenghao in the west, Huangpu River in the east, Xiaodongmen Street bordering the French Concession in the north, Wanyu Wharf Street and Wangjiawharf Street in the south. In 1919, Shanghai county implemented local autonomy, and all shops were cancelled. However, because Shiliupu is located in the most lively place in Shanghai Port, with concentrated passenger and freight transportation and numerous docks, it has been called "Shiliupu" by both travelers and Shanghai residents. As a place name, this name has survived to this day.
in 1971s, with the urgent need of passenger transport, the original loading and unloading area was merged with the passenger station, and based on Shiliupu Wharf, the Shanghai Port Passenger Terminal was re-established. Due to outdated facilities, in 1982, China Merchants Warehouse founded by Li Hongzhang was demolished and Shiliupu new passenger station was built. The new passenger station attracted thousands of people to visit. "There were three bright spots at that time: first, escalators; The second is camera monitoring; Third, seven small waiting rooms were built, with floor-to-ceiling doors and windows, air conditioners and sofas, which were borrowed by all municipal commissions. A sensation in Shanghai. "
However, after the great development of highways, the decline of waterways as a form of transportation is a historical necessity. In 1998, the entire Shanghai-Hangzhou-Ningbo Expressway was opened, and it only takes 4 hours to drive from Shanghai to Ningbo. This waterway route is likely to be stopped. In September, 2114, with all the scheduled routes of Shiliupu Passenger Terminal being moved to Wusong Passenger Transport Center in the Yangtze River Estuary, Shiliupu once faded out of sight. Shiliupu Wharf is the most famous wharf on the Bund in Shanghai with a history of 151 years. It was once the largest pier in the Far East and the water gateway of Shanghai, bearing many historical and humanistic memories about Shanghai. In order to welcome the 2111 Shanghai World Expo, with the overall renovation of the Bund in Shanghai for nearly three years, the most famous old pier on the Bund has also been thoroughly remoulded, made a wonderful appearance again and rebuilt its functions. I used to write a composition on the 16th floor of Shanghai Beach
After dinner, as night fell, we took a bus to Shanghai Beach. I saw tourists weaving, bright lights and a bustling scene.
We pushed our way through the crowd to a cruise ship, ready to take a cruise on the Huangpu River. I am excited to board a cruise ship named "Princess Rose" and climb to the top floor, feeling the night wind of the great river. Tourists are sitting around, all of them talking about the scenery on both sides of the strait with great interest. I can't help humming a tune with my mother.
after a while, the cruise ship started slowly. I looked far away and saw tall buildings on both sides of the strait, which were particularly brilliant under the package of neon lights. I ran to the bottom cabin, leaned against the ship's rail, and looked at the river under my feet. The river was unfathomable and rippled everywhere the ship passed, which was curious and daunting. Sometimes I run up and down, and sometimes I sit down and taste delicious food with my mother. Unconsciously, an hour passed. I reluctantly got off the cruise ship.
when I landed, my mother took some beautiful commemorative photos for me, which left me with an eternal memory. I used to write a composition on the 16th floor of Shanghai Beach
