This time, 40 samples from 40 brands of various types of bagged pickles were randomly inspected. The test items were dichlorvos, dimethoate, sorbic acid, benzoic acid, sodium saccharin, nitrite, food coloring, lead, coliform bacteria, and Bacteria, etc., among which 18 samples passed the hygienic quality standard (the pass rates of pickles sampling inspection in 2002 and 2003 were 25.0% and 63.9% respectively). The test results showed that the reason why the pickles were unqualified was that the preservative benzoic acid exceeded the standard.
