The life span of hairy crabs is closely related to their gender, the maturity of their gonads and their ecological environment. With such a close relationship between the lifespan of hairy crabs and the age of sexual maturity, two different scenarios occur:

1, in a high-density culture environment, hairy crabs and their slow growth. In this case, although it has been (2 foot age) of hairy crabs, to reach the normal reproductive age, but their gonads have not matured, delayed shelling into "green crab", still living in rivers and lakes, can not go to the sea to reproduce, this kind of hairy crabs life expectancy can be up to 3 ~ 4 years.

2, in the process of breeding hairy crabs, due to the high temperature, high animal protein content in the bait, the water has a certain salt content and other factors, there will be premature individuals, gonadal precocious hairy crabs will soon die, their life expectancy is less than 1 year
