1. Select soil
Before planting potatoes, you need to select loose, fertile soil with good drainage and air permeability. It can be prepared using a mixture of garden soil and humus-rich soil. The planting location must be in a sunny location, allowing the potatoes to receive at least four hours of light every day.
2. Process seeds
After selecting the soil for planting, you need to process the seeds stored last year. You need to select potatoes with full grains and smooth surfaces without damage, cut them into three to four pieces, dip them in rooting powder, and put them in a moist and warm environment. After waiting for seven days, the potato pieces will germinate and can be sown.
3. Sowing and planting
Put the sprouted potato pieces into the pre-dug seedbed, cover with fine soil, and compact lightly to avoid damage to the sprouts. Then water the soil completely, and then water it once a day to thoroughly water the soil. After a month, the buds will grow into seedlings, and you can apply decomposed organic fertilizer once before planting.
4. Daily maintenance
When the potatoes sprout and grow into seedlings for planting, daily maintenance can be carried out. Potatoes do not have high water requirements and can be watered according to the principle of drying out and watering thoroughly to ensure that the potatoes are adequately hydrated but avoid water accumulation on the soil. During the growth period, just apply nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium compound fertilizer to promote growth.
