The township is located in the hinterland of Huaibei Plain, with a temperate monsoon climate. There are four distinct seasons, suitable climate, fertile land and rich products, especially the production of Chinese herbal medicines. It is a national production base of high-quality commodity grain and Chinese herbal medicine. The production of medicinal materials has achieved large-scale planting and pollution-free production, with a planting area of more than 10000 mu, involving more than 20 varieties such as Andrographis paniculata, Scutellaria barbata, Radix Isatidis, Radix Platycodi and Radix Paeoniae Rubra, especially Andrographis paniculata, with an annual output of more than 5,000 tons of high-quality Chinese medicinal materials, which was approved as a national production base by the State Economic and Trade Commission in 1999. The township has formed six pillar industries: Chinese herbal medicines, dehydrated vegetables, high-quality wheat, sweet potatoes, knitted garments and flour processing.
