In terms of novels, the outstanding writers are Frederic Massereene (1848- 19 17), who founded the magazine Haitian Literature in 1909, and his novel Marily Sai describes Haitian society extensively. Josette Le Marie Laure Gigon (1873- 1907) is an advocate of "Youth Haiti" movement. He wrote the novel "Little Quail's Home" (1905) with the following social life as the theme. Pierre Fernand Pei Yi (1873- 1928) tends to be naturalistic. His works include Seine (1906), Seymour Cray (1923) and My Friend's Book (. Anton Anosang (1874- 1960) explored the ideological origin between Haiti and Africa in Mimora (1906).
