The pineapple nectar tree is about 10-20 meters tall and reaches a diameter of about 30-50 cm at breast height, with thick bark that is dark brown in color. The leaves of the pineapple nectar tree are spirally arranged, oval or obovate in shape, and leathery. Its flowers are monoecious, with inflorescences on old stems or short branches, with oval anthers and no staminodes. Its fruits are polygamous, generally oval to spherical in shape, light yellow in color when young and yellow-brown when ripe.
