Acute gastroenteritis is a very common disease in emergency department. Most patients with acute gastroenteritis are gastrointestinal symptoms caused by unclean diet, careless hygiene or food spoilage. Its outstanding clinical manifestations are nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, and in severe cases, fever, elevated hemogram, leukocytosis in stool, paroxysmal abdominal pain and even shock. Most cases of acute gastroenteritis have a good prognosis and only need symptomatic treatment. For mild acute gastroenteritis, fasting water, giving patients some intestinal probiotics and paying attention to diet can be recovered. For moderate and severe patients, intravenous fluid infusion and some ions may be needed to stabilize the patient's internal environment. At the same time, if the patient's hemogram is elevated with fever, some anti-inflammatory drugs can be given to correct the shock through rehydration and make the patient recover. The overall forecast is very good. Of course, there are some serious acute gastroenteritis in clinic, which is caused by some special infections. The course of treatment may be longer, which may lead to sepsis. It may be a little troublesome to treat, and the prognosis is good if it is treated in time.
