Zhang Zhongjing was a native of Nanyang County at the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty, and was a large local family. This period is the most violent period of social unrest in Chinese history. The consorts and eunuchs of the imperial court killed each other fiercely, which led to the decline of the prestige of the imperial court. Heroes attack each other and farmers rebel against each other.
All these have done great harm to the people, and we know that wars are often accompanied by plagues. During the Jian 'an period, typhoid fever broke out many times in Zhang Zhongjing's hometown, and his family was originally well-off. Because of several outbreaks of typhoid fever, the family of more than 200 people has become dozens. This made Zhang Zhongjing hate both the cruelty of the ruling class and the harm caused by typhoid fever, and made up his mind to overcome this disease.
He spent decades traveling around the world, deeply studying typhoid fever and putting it into practice, and finally wrote the famous medical theory treatise on febrile diseases, which conquered the disease.
He later became an official in Changsha, and when he wanted to go back to his hometown in Nanyang, it happened to be winter, and people were frozen all the way. After seeing this phenomenon, he decided to drive away the cold for the people and cure the rotten ears.
When he got home, he thought of a prescription, that is, Quhan Joule Decoction. His practice is to cook the soup meat together with the medicine for removing cold, take it out and chop it up, wrap it in a flour bag and cook it in a pot. After cooking, they can eat the original soup.
He asked people to start cooking this warm food for everyone in Nanyang Dongguan. Sure enough, after eating these things, everyone's ears have never been frozen. This kind of food is called jiaozi by our descendants, and this day happens to be the solstice of winter.
