The episode focuses on Maruko's visit to Jade's house, where she learns that gifts are to be given to each other for the Chinese New Year's Day. When she gets home, Maruko asks her mom and is a little disappointed to learn that the family didn't receive too many gifts. After going to school, Hanalun's classmates and Maruko say that they received a lot of gifts, and they all agree to go to Hanalun's house together.
Maruko goes home and tells her mom that her grandfather is also interested in wanting to go to Hanaren's house together. When everyone arrived at Hanawa's house, they thought his house was big and beautiful, then Hanawa took out the gifts he had received, and shared the delicious food with everyone, among which were delicious cakes and all kinds of fruits.
Hualun shared the gifts he received with his classmates, and they all took them home and shared them with their families. Maruko got the durian and cut it open thinking that the whole family thought it was bad and disposed of it "properly".
