Common coastal crabs include white crabs, green crabs, Chinese mitten crabs, stone crabs and flower crabs. Green crab is one of the important marine economic crabs along the southeast coast, mainly distributed in the offshore of Hainan, Guangxi, Guangdong, Fujian, Zhejiang and Taiwan provinces.

The Chinese mitten crab, also known as the river crab, hairy crab, clear water crab, hairy crab, has the distinctive features of green back, white belly, golden claws and yellow hair. It has four incisors cusps and the inner incisors have deep notches in a U or V shape.
