Although wild boar is not a national key protected wild animal, it is actually one of the three protected animals in China, and has been included in the list of terrestrial wild animals that are beneficial to national protection or have important economic and scientific research value. Regarding the three protected animals, the Wildlife Protection Law promulgated by the State Forestry Administration clearly stipulates that they are beneficial wild animals with important economic value and scientific research value. It is forbidden to hunt privately during the hunting season and in the game reserve.
Living habits
Wild boars mostly live in quiet forests, especially in wet jungles near rivers and streams. The habitat of wild boar also changes with food and climate conditions. Wild boar has the habit of lying down during the day and walking at night, but it also comes out during the day in cold winter.
Wild boar likes water, and in summer, in order to prevent mosquitoes and flies from invading, they like to roll in the rotting mire.
Wild boar is an omnivore, feeding on branches, fruits, wild vegetables, grass roots, carrion and so on. When food is scarce, it often goes down the mountain to look for crops planted by farmers, such as corn, sorghum, soybeans, potatoes and sweet potatoes.
