2. Common species
1. Lavender: This species is the most common, native to the Mediterranean coast and cultivated throughout Europe. Its adult plant can tolerate high temperatures of 40°C and low temperatures of -21°C. It does not require much water during the growth process, but it cannot do without sufficient light. Generally, it should be planted in a sunny place with deep soil and appropriate top dressing during the growth period.
2. Broad-leaf lavender: This variety is native to southern Europe and is also cultivated in our country, but it is very rare. It is generally planted in loose and fertile neutral soil. It can also be planted in alkaline soil. It does not require much watering and does not require much fertilizer. After it blooms, you need to prune the first node below the flower and trim the plant into a hemispherical shape.
3. Pinnate lavender: The leaves of this variety are bipinnate and deeply lobed, usually opposite, and have a certain fragrance. The flowers are dark purple and have no fragrance, but they bloom year-round and only go dormant in the summer when the heat is too high. It is native to the Canary Islands and needs sufficient light in normal times and proper shade only in summer.
4. Lavender serrata: This variety is an ornamental plant and is generally grown in courtyards. It has average cold resistance and good heat resistance. Its flowers are light purple and have a fragrant smell. In addition, it can also be packed in a sachet to repel mosquitoes, and the extracted essential oil can soothe nerves.
