First, the flowering period of pitaya
The flowering period of pitaya is from May to 10, in which late June to early July, late August to early September and mid-September to 10 are three stages of concentrated flowering.
Second, the flower bud differentiation law of pitaya
In hot summer, pitaya bears a bud from the stem node (it is generally believed that high temperature can promote its flower bud differentiation, while low temperature can inhibit it). At the beginning, the flower buds are small and round, and grow into tubes after 13 days, and the flowers are light green. After 17 days, the length of the bud can reach 27~35 cm, and the front sepals will spread out. The flowers bloomed that night. Buds come out early (May-June), and the flower buds spread slowly, from visible flower buds to flowering needs 18~20 days. If 3~5 flower buds germinate in the same node at the same time, they will be naturally eliminated on 10 day after flowering, leaving only 1~2 flower buds, or the difference between two flower buds is one day, making the fruit smaller than other branches with only one fruit, or two fruits are one big and one small. Therefore, in order to keep the size of the fruit and prevent the dispersion of nutrients, it is best to sparse the buds within 10 days after the buds are visible (except for flower picking and cooking). After the flower buds germinate, the soil moisture should be maintained to avoid too much difference between wet and dry, and to prevent yellowing and withering (bud elimination).
Third, the flowering time of pitaya
The flower of pitaya lasts for one night, starting from 1~ 1.5 hours before sunset, and it is completely open at sunset. 16:00 ~ 18:00, the anther dehisces, and the nectaries begin to secrete around 20: 30. At this time, the nectary secretion was clearly visible, and the opening speed was the fastest at 18:40 ~ 19:00, and the buds were funnel-shaped. At this time, the calyx is yellow-green and fleshy. The petals are pure white. After pollination, pistils and stamens aged, and stigma lobes were brownish blue. The flower diameter reaches the maximum at 1: 00 in the morning, and gradually withers at 2: 00, until it completely withers after sunlight. Bees are active from 6 to 8. If it rains when flowering, the temperature is low and the flowering speed is slow. Pollen viability in vitro reached the highest at 12 hour after flowering, and then tended to decline.
